<\/a><\/p>\nThe Cuckfield Royal Observer Corps post is a small underground bunker, one of over 1,500 built during the 1950s to monitor fallout from a nuclear war that we restored over 15 years ago. We have restored it to the state it was when it closed down, with newspaper articles still talking about Soviet aggression, tins of preserved food for the survivors and lots of equipment to monitor the nuclear attack and fallout.<\/p>\n

Due to the small size of the bunker, you might need to wait a bit to climb down inside, but there are displays and knowledgeable guides above ground to keep you occupied.<\/p>\n Entry is free, and donations are appreciated as these allow us to maintain the bunker.<\/p>\n Going by what Ian Visits says<\/a> getting there is easy, they found it easiest to take the train to Haywards Heath<\/a>, and then it\u2019s a relatively pleasant 45-minute walk to Cuckfield, which is even more enjoyable via Blunts Wood.
